In recognizing that the overarching concept surrounding a philosophy that drives balanced decisions toward a viable future is based on economic, environmental and social measures, MWH applies this philosophy in the renewable energy and sustainability services we offer within the wet infrastructure sector.
Tapping into our diverse skill set in groundwater, MWH investigates and aggressively identifies and examines sources of chemical and biological contaminants. We provide expertise in extensive data collection and analysis
of the speed and direction of contamination migration, resulting in the final evaluation and design of remedial alternatives.
From the construction of biomass, solar and wind energy facilities to the design of PV solar panel facilities and wind farms, MWH is Building A Better World in the wet infrastructure sector.
Hydroelectric Power
Assisting with turbines, generators, pumps, drives (including variable speed), protection systems, back-up power systems, switchgear, motor control centers, cable and raceway, power piping and building/facilities auxiliaries, we demonstrate our expertise and commitment to our clients. Additional services include hydro plant planning and design; conventional and pumped-storage planning and design; dam investigations and design; dam safety inspection and rehabilitation; spillways and outlet works design; intakes, tunnels and penstocks design; hydrology studies and operations modeling; and hydraulic analysis and design.
Power Distribution and Transmission Lines
MWH provides engineering analysis, performs feasibility studies, designs electrical utility power systems, prepares and evaluates tender documents, and provides construction management services for power distribution and transmission interconnection projects. We utilize our state-of-the-art software for line routing, tower spotting, load flow, short circuit, transient stability, electro-magnetic transients, relay and protective device coordination, distribution feeder design and AM/FM mapping. Our professionals are experienced in all aspects of Energy Management Systems (EMS) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) applications, communication technologies and protocols. We assist our thermal power clients worldwide in the design, procurement, and use of these systems for power plants, substations, and national/regional grid control systems. Specifics regarding our services can be reviewed at the MWH website under the category of power transmission.
Non-Hydro Renewable Energy
Globally, MWH designs, manages, manufactures, and constructs waste to energy for solar and wind energy facilities. Other services include permitting; compliance and voluntary greenhouse gas accounting; environmental and social impact analysis; program and construction management; and life cycle assessment services to our renewable energy clients.
Site Assessment/Compliance
Offering third-party compliance auditing; environmental permitting; due diligence reviews; and environmental health and safety program development, implementation and training provides dimension in site assessment and compliance. In addition, our standard services include geologic surveys, geophysical site investigations; exploration and testing; earthquake engineering; soil, surface water, sediment, species and biological tissue sampling; and ecological validation studies.
Chemical & Soil Remediation
With activities in the groundwater field, MWH services are diverse and typically include projects such as investigating and identifying sources of chemical contamination, examining the extent of contamination, analyzing the speed and direction of contamination migration, and designing and evaluating remedial alternatives. We provide a complete range of services for chemical and soil remediation including the development of remedial strategies; investigations; risk assessments; remedy selections; remedial design, engineering and construction; operational services; turnkey remediation; mine reclamation; land-use (brownfield reuse); evaluation and selection of low-impact remediation alternatives; soil remediation; and groundwater treatment.
